1,000-mile Bike Ride for Charity

One month and 1,000 miles, a local from Earl Shilton honours his mother's memory with a charity bike ride from Lands’ End to John O'Groats,

For many people, cycling is just a hobby or a means of transportation but for Chris Shepherdson, it's a way to honour the memory of his mother and raise money for a cause close to his heart. He stated “My dad- who ran a marathon in her memory. He inspired me to do this, but I wanted to do something bigger and better.”

During August 2023, the bike ride from Lands’ End to John O'Groats took place to raise money and awareness for Epilepsy Research UK. The ride was organized with the help of his father and Chris himself. The journey took around 2 weeks, covering over 1,000 miles. He cycled through heavy rain and wind, and some of the most beautiful and challenging terrain in the UK, from the rugged coastline of Cornwall to the rolling hills of Scotland.

Through his dedication and hard work, Chris managed to raise over a thousand pounds on GoFundMe for the charity.
