Over the past three years, I have gained social media experience working with independent businesses and content creators. My focus has been to help them maintain consistency, increase engagement, and create tailored content that aligns with their brand. I have also interned at a communications company, Splendid Communications. This gave me the chance to work various national and international level companies such as Travelodge, Big Yellow Self Storage and Ginsters.

PR and Social Media Intern

As a PR and Social Media Intern at Splendid Communications, I played an integral role in conceptualising and creating content for various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) for clients such as Travelodge, Big Yellow Self Storage and Ginsters

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualised and created  content for clients like Travelodge and Big Yellow Self Storage as well as assisted with reactive content.
  • Wrote tailored copy for social media posts to engage target audiences.
  • Assisted in creating content decks to showcase post concepts, creative direction, and strategy to internal teams and clients.
  • Scheduled posts a month in advance and managed the social media content calendar, ensuring all platforms stayed aligned with overall marketing goals and key dates.
  • Wrote up monthly engagement reports to track performance, insights, and KPIs, including metrics like reach, engagement rates and impressions.
  • Monitored competitor activity, identifying trends and opportunities to keep content strategies fresh and competitive.
  • Provided creative input during brainstorming sessions for fresh and innovative content ideas.
  • Conducted daily community management, monitoring social media and news for relevant updates.
  • Flagged significant news to the client’s press team.

Social Media Specialist (TikTok)

As a TikTok manager and content creator for a local independent business, Fossil & Bloom, my goal is to consistently create and schedule content on a weekly basis to revitalise the account, increase followers and engagement while staying up-to-date with trends. 

Creative Process and Strategy:

  • Planning various mini-series for the page, including a mini-series "Colours & Textures", showcasing the unique products within the shop.
  • Filming and editing using programs like CapCut, DaVinci Resolve and Canva.
  • Writing scripts for voice-overs.
  • Increased profile visits by 80% within 3 months, with 49.1% being new viewers.
  • Writing effective copies for TikTok that maintains the voice of the brand and matches across other platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
  • Maintaining consistent interactions with followers to foster a sense of community and build a loyal viewer base organically.

University Social and Digital Media Projects

Promoting Local Art Events:
For a university project, I focused on highlighting local art communities and upcoming exhibitions in the Midlands that are often overlooked. I used Adobe Photoshop and Canva to create the graphics/slides and the mock-up for the Instagram page. I also utilised Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the TikTok video.

Global Eye Magazine:
For the Annual student magazine, Global Eye, I rain the main social media pages as a way to advertise the upcoming issue release. I also designed the main logo, created social media images and graphics, and wrote the captions. 

Fossil and Bloom Promotional Video and Interview with the owner:
Produced a promotional video for a local independent business, which was shared across all their social media pages (Instagram & Facebook), attracting new clients organically. 

Social Media Manager

Managed various social media accounts for an Independent Illustrator. Conducted research to identify social media trends and best practices using SEO tools (Hootsuite) to track engagement and bring in new followers.

Changes made and implemented:

    • Edited profile descriptions across all social media platforms to create a cohesive identity.
    • Established communications between the artist and comic conventions around Norway for collaboration events.
    • Added highlights to Instagram to showcase customer-tagged posts, promote upcoming convention appearances, and display commission inquiries.
    • Curated content on a weekly basis which increased followers by 30% on Instagram in less than a year.
    • Re-launched Twitter/X page, wrote pinned tweets and scheduled weekly posts.
    • Created a personalised carrd landing page, to connect their social media accounts and email contact.

Illustrator and Merch Artist: elee-rra

Before

The reels were previously unedited and longer with inconsistent uploads between regular posts, which didn't fit the site's algorithm and resulted in less engagement by new and existing followers.

After

Changed the editing style on reels by making them shorter, adding effects, and researching various trends across platforms to suit each one, increasing engagement by 200%.

For another client, I also wrote and personalised profile descriptions and pinned tweets according to their style across different platforms to keep a consistent tone. I created the graphics, helped schedule content bi-weekly, moderated chats during live streams and helped achieve Twitch Affiliation.
