Over 50 years of The London Film Fair
Running since 1973, this year The London Film Fair continues to celebrate classic cinema with iconic guests and vintage memorabilia.
Imagine an open hall filled with stars from classic shows such as Doctor Who and vendors selling an endless supply of vintage film memorabilia such as posters, magazines, arthouse, and cult classic films on DVDs and old-school VHS tapes. Established in 1973, the London Film Fair is London’s longest-running film convention, which happens five times a year.
Over the years, the event has seen a shift in the age of special guests, from actors from the 50s, 60s and 70s to those from the 80s, and 90s. While the fair still attracts a more mature audience, Paul Jones, the event's organiser with 30 years of experience in events and conventions and has been running the show for 7 years, has noticed an increase in younger attendees as well. “Things like Star Wars, James Bond, and Indiana Jones just keep on being reinvented, and people want to meet people from them.” Their goal is to keep inviting interesting guests and to encourage everyone to learn about film history. “Often It feels inaccessible to get into the classics. This is an open forum for everybody; nobody is judged by what they like or don't like. And they can learn a lot about how films are made over the generations by coming here.”
With its long-standing history, the fair has established itself as the go-to event for any film enthusiast, whether you're a die-hard fan of the classics or just starting to explore the world of cinema.
